Greetings everyone. My name is Steve Payne. I am the Technology Systems Specialist here at Madisonville Community College. You can see my location information on my main page. I am here now to tell you a little about myself.

I haven't really been dealing with computers and other technology as long as you may think. While I did have to use them on occasion in school, I never really got to experiment with a computer until I was a freshman in high school. That is when I got my first one. That was only 11 years ago. Even then, I barely knew what I was doing and wasn't really interested in knowing much more than how to play games or get on the internet. It was only after I got into college in January, 2001 that I really started getting more and more interested in the workings of a Computer. As I had to use them more and more for school, I naturally ran into more and more obstacles, and let's face it, it gets annoying to have to have someone else fix your stuff every time. So, I decided to start learning more about the computer. I really took a lot of interest while I was in my computer hardware and software maintenance classes. I learned a lot and started applying that knowledge to my every day activites.

During my quest for more PC knowledge, I started taking an interest in computer networking as well, so I shifted my studies to that area so that I could learn more about it. It paid off. A few tough years later I had a degree in Network Administration (along with a degree in Computer Aided Design that I opted for first).I had also started working at a local computer repair shop in Madisonville called Computer Knights. I worked there for about two and a half years, while continuing my education at WKU in the Computer Information Technology program, repairing all sorts of pc and networking problems. However, in June of 2007, I got the call, after several interviews, letting me know that I had been selected to fill the position of Technology Systems Specialist at MCC. And there you have it. I started on June 16, 2007 and here I am today.
