Madisonville Community College’s (MCC) Director of Adult Education, Cris Crowley, wants all current and future GED students to be aware of upcoming changes. Kentucky Adult Education has announced that the current version of the GED® test (2002 Series) will expire at the end of 2013 and will be replaced with the new 2014 GED® test on January 2, 2014. Individuals who have taken the 2002 Series GED® test, but have not passed all five parts, have until December 2013 to complete the test. If not completed, the individual will need to start over in 2014 with the new GED® test. Other significant changes include the cost of the exam increasing to $120 in 2014 and the test will be completed via computer rather than the traditional paper and pencil method. Individuals are encouraged to not wait until the fall of 2013 to begin GED® testing as testing slots may be full. Support is available for adult learners to get prepared to successfully take all or parts of the GED® test.
