Emergency and Weather Notification

Madisonville Community College’s standard procedure during inclement weather is to remain open and hold classes as scheduled. Campus closures are rare; however, should the weather become severe enough to warrant closing the campus, MCC will notify you about campus closings, delays, or emergencies though our Safety Notification Alert Process (SNAP) system. SNAP notification options include phone, text, and KCTCS student email.

Notifications will also be posted on the college home page and Facebook page, and local television and radio stations will be contacted (see below for the station channels). As always, use your own judgment when determining whether it is safe to travel in your area.

In the event of a weather delay please follow this schedule for beginning class times:

  • When the college announces a 1-hour delay, the following will apply:
    • 8:00 classes will be cancelled.

  • When the college announces a 2-hour delay, the following will apply:
    • 8:00 classes will be cancelled.
    • 9:30 classes will begin at 10:00 and will end at their regular time of 10:45.
    • Classes scheduled thereafter will follow their prescribed schedule.

  • When the college announces a closure prior to the end of the day, classes will meet up until that time and will dismiss when the facility closes.
