The following scholarships and support are only available to Muhlenberg County students.
The Partners in Progress Scholarship Endowment supports approximately 10-14 Muhlenberg students with awards each year. The average award is $1,200-1,300 for full-time students. The gift and resulting scholarships have been made possible by an anonymous donor.
The Gentry Biology Endowment provides a $500 annual award to a medical, biology or pharmacy student. Funds for this endowment were provided by the family of Darrel and E.A. Gentry.
The Muhlenberg County Endowment for Excellence was established to receive general gifts from interested local donors. The endowment will support programming and students specific to the Muhlenberg County Campus. A total of $45,000 is available each year for tutorial wages, scholarships, and arts outreach programs. The current fund balance of of the Muhlenberg County Endowment for Excellence is $1.1 million.
Allied health endowments and annual fund dollars provide scholarship support for students majoring in studies such as physical therapist assistant, occupational therapy assistant, radiography, surgical technology, respiratory care, and nursing.
The college's Annual Fund provides 4-5 scholarships each year.
The Everly Brothers Foundation provides $2,000-3,000 a year to support non-traditional, adult students, and in some cases, recent graduates of area high schools. MCC matches the Foundation's gifts each year.
Madisonville Community College received an estate gift in 2006 from the late Iris Givens of $1.5 million, providing allied health scholarships and complete funding for the School Counts! Workforce Program. Ninety percent of the money is distributed locally, and seven percent is reinvested. The first graduates of the School Counts! program will begin attending MCC in fall 2011.
