Program Description

With the vast demand, growth and advancement in medical equipment technologies, the need to repair, maintain and manage such technologies has never been greater. The Medical Equipment, Instrumentation and Technology Program, the only program of its type in Kentucky, offers a unique educational experience for both males and females.

The Medical Equipment, Instrumentation and Technology Program places emphasis on the knowledge and skill level needed to successfully address the needs of many types of medical equipment technologies including highly specialized and sophisticated equipment and instrumentation found in medical imaging, the operating room, physical therapy, the intensive care unit, the clinical laboratory and respiratory therapy. Throughout the program, students will repair, test, maintain and manage a large variety of medical equipment technologies. Performance testing procedures and equipment management practices will be emphasized and performed in the laboratory setting routinely. Classroom content will focus on the use, design and operation of medical equipment. Off-campus clinical training is incorporated into the program to give students real-world exposure to Biomedical Equipment Technology / Clinical Engineering field practices and procedures.
