Program Mission
The mission of Madisonville Community College Radiography Program is to provide Radiography education and clinical experiences to develop a skilled and versatile Radiography workforce.
Program Description
The Radiography program prepares the individual to become a radiographer. The radiographer is prepared to administer ionizing radiation for medical diagnostic imaging purposes. Emphasis is on radiation protection and quality patient care. The curriculum is comprised of specialized courses in radiography with concentrated study in the basic sciences, mathematics, and general education. Students enrolled in the Radiography program must acheive a minimum grade of "C" in each Radiography course. Upon completion of the program, the graduate is eligible to apply to write the examination for registration as a radiographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Program changes are effective Fall 2008. Course requirement changes will affect students applying March 2009 for Fall cohort. It is important that students review changes in the curriculum guide.

Program Outcomes
The Radiography program serves its communities of interest and its students. The program goals are to:
- Provide employers with graduates possessing the knowledge, practical skills including communication and problem solving abilities needed to function in the changing health care environment.
- Create an educational environment that promotes student success.
- Utilize a classroom setting that enhances student learning and prepares the student to take the ARRT examination by using various teaching methods.
- Build an educational clinical environment that ensures student learning of the essential concepts in the field of Radiography.
- Maintain faculty dedicated to assisting the student in achieving the desired goals and objectives of the program.
Licensure and Accreditation
The Radiography Program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), located at 20 N. Wacker Drive, Suite 2850, Chicago, Illinois 60606-3182. Students completing all requirements are eligible to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Employment Opportunities
Radiographers may find positions in hospitals, health clinics, and physicians' offices. Research laboratories and some industrial firms may also employ radiographers.
Admission Requirements:
The following should be submitted to the Office of Admissions for admission to this program:
- Application for admission
(154 K) - High School transcript or GED
- ACT or COMPASS score reports (See selection admission process
(51 K) for required program admission scores) - Transcripts of all previous college work
The following must be completed before being accepted into the program:
- A statement verifying at least a four-hour observation/work experience in a Radiology Department must be completed and returned to the college. (Official college observation form must be used).
- Submit a letter to Program Director before March 1
- Pre-admission conference may be required prior to admission to Radiography program
Financial Aid
Financial Aid programs available to those who qualify include Federal Pell Grants, KHEAA Cap Grants, Federal Work Study, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, and Federal Stafford Loan Program. Veteran’s programs and various scholarships are available. The Financial Aid Specialist will be glad to assist you with your options.

Length of Program
The program is five semesters, including a summer session. The clinical day will vary depending on your clinical site and shift.
