Program Description

Industrial maintenance technicians install, maintain, and repair machinery found in a plant or factory.

Employment Opportunities

The Industrial Maintenance Technician is employed in all industries and settings, including factories, government agencies, public utilities, mining companies and any other business relying on machinery.

Length of Program

Classroom instruction and shop experience provide the needed job skills for industry. Two full years are required for a full-time student. Courses are offered during four 16-week semesters and one six-week summer session.

Classes Needed

Program Classes:

* If three credit hours of math are taken, three additional credit hours of general education must be taken.

Electives:

Select a minimum of 15 credit hours from related areas with permission of instructor. (See KCTCS Catalog)

Additional Courses Required for Associate Degree in General Occupational Technical Studies:

18-21 hours of electives from related areas with permission of instructor.
