The Madisonville/Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation announced today that McCoy & McCoy Laboratories, Inc., with operations in Madisonville, has been named Industry of the Month for February in the Economic Development Corporation’s program for enhanced focus on Existing Industry.
Founded in 1952 by John Wesley McCoy, the company is celebrating 63 years of excellence in laboratory testing. Current President Barclay McCoy has held her position since 1991. From the first facility in Madisonville, McCoy & McCoy now has five locations in Kentucky and one in Indiana. The company’s initial services included the testing of drinking water and wastewater, but they have since diversified to include analytics on cosmetics, tobacco, and supplements. McCoy & McCoy now receives testing samples from all over the world; from as far away as Switzerland and Japan.
The company has maintained excellence and competitive advantage by operating under the most stringent standards. They are certified under NELAC, PJLA, ISO/IEC 17025:2005, and the Kentucky Minority Women Business Enterprise Certification Program. The company has the honor of being the first company in all of Kentucky to achieve the NELAC accreditation. Currently, they perform over 50% of drinking water compliance testing in Kentucky, and conduct compliance analysis in all states surrounding the commonwealth. They produce more Discharge Monitoring Reports for the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System than anyone in the southeast U.S. McCoy & McCoy Laboratories, Inc. provides employment to 48 citizens in the community.
