The Madisonville/Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation announced today that RJ Temper, with operations in Madisonville, has been named Industry of the Month for May in the Economic Development Corporation’s program for enhanced focus on Existing Industry.
Jack Whitfield, Sr. started RJ Temper in 2006 with a single 5 man crew. The company is now a thriving enterprise that serves the energy, coal, and other mining industries that include salt, pot ash, and limestone. Operating in 10 states, RJ Temper specializes in ventilation and supplemental roof support projects, with two of their staple products being overcasts and seals. The company is still family owned/operated, with Jack Whitfield, Jr. in charge of day to day operations, and Eddie Hardin overseeing projects in western Kentucky and southern Indiana. With six immediate family members involved with the company, their values and a can do attitude have exponentially increased sales, and employment levels continue to grow.
RJ Temper is a wonderful example of entrepreneurial spirit and an important piece of the Madisonville/Hopkins County community of manufacturers that have the capabilities necessary to create custom pieces from concept all the way to production and installation.
RJ Temper employs approximately 60 in the community.
