Your first semester of college can be an exciting, yet confusing time…we want to help you through this process with the MCC First Semester Experience program. There are questions you may find yourself asking once you begin your classes and we would like to help you find the answers before the semester gets underway.
New students with completed admissions files (application, placement test scores, and high school transcripts or GED scores) will attend a First Semester Experience (FSE) session prior to registering for classes. Typically students do not register for classes during their First Semester Experience session. After your initial FSE session, an individual meeting with your advisor will be scheduled at which time you will be able to register for classes. Your FSE sessions will last approximately 4-5 hours.
While we encourage students to attend their FSE session on their own, we understand that some of you would feel more comfortable bringing a parent along. However, please note that due to space limitations parents may or may not be able to stay in the session rooms with you. This is at the discretion of your FSE advisor. Friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, siblings, etc. will not be allowed to attend your session and we cannot reserve seats for any individuals joining you.
Optional information sessions will be held after your FSE session. Session topics include online services, financial aid, and a campus tour. If you still have questions or concerns about these topics we encourage you to stick around and learn more!
New students should contact the Career and Academic Planning Center (824-8621) in order to reserve one of the First Semester Experience session dates below or for more information. All sessions are held on the MCC North Campus unless otherwise noted.
Walk-ins will not be accepted and seating is limited.
