The Associate of Applied Science Degree is awarded upon successful completion of this program and the graduate is eligible to sit for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) Certification Examination for Occupational Therapy Assistants. Students should be aware that a felony conviction may affect a graduate’s ability to sit for the NBCOT certification exam or attain state licensure. Further information can be found at www.nbcot.org. After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). Most states require licensure in order to practice, however, state licensure are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination.
