Nurse Aide State Registry

After completion of the Nursing Assistant Skills I class (NAA 100), the student is eligible to take the state competency exam offered in the Hatley Building at the MCC Health Sciences Campus. Contact Nancy Propes, KNAT Coordinator, Region 2, at (270) 824-1804 to schedule an exam.

  • Testing starts at 8:30 a.m. Late arrivals will not be admitted and will have to reschedule their exam. The test length is determined by the number of students scheduled and the length of the skills required that day. Generally testing ends by 1 p.m.
  • Students must bring their social security card in good condition with no lamination or tape and a driver’s license or military ID and the name must match the name on the provided social security card. No birth certificates or paperwork from the Social Security Office can be accepted. Failure to provide the required documentation or late arrival will result in an inability to test on that date.
  • The cost of testing is $75.00 and must be paid by money order or credit card.
  • The exam consists of 75 multiple choice questions and a demonstration of 5 skills the from the procedure manual.
  • All cell phones or pagers must be put away and turned off for the exam and the waiting period between exams.
  • Exams are graded at the KCTCS Systems Office and the test administrator cannot provide exam results will be received within 30 days.
  • After successful completion of the exam, a registry number will be issued and can be verified on the Kentucky state registry.
  • To maintain active status, an SRNA must work at least one eight-hour day in a two year period. Clinical experience in a nursing program does not count toward this requirement. If the registry status expires, the nurse aide class and state exam must be repeated.
  • 48 hour advance notice must be given to cancel or reschedule an exam.
  • The state exam must be taken within one year from the  last day of the class.
  • Grades must be posted before the exam can be taken.
  • All outstanding balances owed to a KCTCS college must be paid before testing can occur.
